Total suspended solids is usually abbreviated TSS. This parameter used to be called non-filterable residue (NFR), a term that refers to the identical measurement: the dry-weight of particles trapped by a filter.

           Geometric mean of wet season* values not to exceed 20.0 mg/l 
           Geometric mean of dry season** values not to exceed 10.0 mg/l
           Wet season* values not to exceed 50.0 mg/l ten percent
                  (10%) of the time
           Dry season** values not to exceed 30.0 mg/l ten percent
                  (10 %) of the time
           Wet season* values not to exceed 80.0 mg/l two percent
                  (2%) of the time
           Dry season** values not to exceed 55.0 mg/l two percent
                  (2%) of the time
     There are no other TSS standards in the current State of Hawaii
           regulations.

* Measurements made between November 1 and April 30 are wet season values
**Measurements made between May 1 and October 31 are dry season values  

Republic of Palau
     There are no specific standards for TSS in Palau.
